Pharmacy Clerk

General Description

The Pharmacy Clerk is a dependable, detail-oriented customer service professional who assists with the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions under pharmacist supervision. This role supports efficient, accurate pharmacy operations in compliance with all regulations and policies while providing high-quality customer service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to support patient care and the organization’s mission.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a cashier for prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) sales, including verifying prescription readiness through the computer system without performing processing or making record changes; HIPAA training is required.
  • Answer non-professional telephone inquiries, including receiving refill requests and promptly forwarding them to a pharmacist, intern, pharmacy technician, or pharmacy technician trainee for processing. Clerks may not initiate or authorize refills or respond to professional inquiries.
  • Accept new written prescriptions from patients and immediately route them to a pharmacist, intern, pharmacy technician, or pharmacy technician trainee for processing.
  • Assist patients in locating OTC products and refer all medication-related questions to a pharmacist.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED-Required
  • 1 Year related healthcare/pharmacy experience or training-Preferred

Compensation

  • Compensation starting at $19.57/hr + DOE
